Back to the Roots
03:51
|
|||
Now and then i realise there's too much clutter in my life.
Too much to do me good. It's time to clear away the dead wood.
And cut it back to the roots.
What once was fresh and green turns stale and brown.
Yeah, There's too much weight. Man, it'll get you down.
Too much to do you good. Time to clear away the dead wood
and cut it back to the roots.
Ooh. Ooh. Too much to do me good. Time to clear away the dead wood.
and cut it back to the roots.

The Morning Song
03:42
|
|||
I love the morning, you can keep your late nights.
I love the morning, the first glimpse of light.
I love to wake up and start out brand new.
I love the morning. Give me a sunrise for two.
I love the morning, bacon and toast.
I love the morning. It's the hours i love the most.
I love to wake up and start out brand new.
I love the morning. Give me a sunrise for two.
A sunrise for two and a clear head and heart,
that's all i ask and i'm ahead from the start.

Vs 1, I left them down by the gatehouse, both dead and gone. X2
Yeah, yeah. they're gonna hang me at dawn.
Vs 2, I put my money on a black nag and lost it all. That's how it went down.
I put my money on a black nag and lost it all, my plans went south.
Yeah yeah. I'm in the Big House.
Vs 3, I saw the rider take a backhand from the bookie man by the gatehouse. X2
Yeah yeah, I put them both down.
Br, Sitting here and I know I'll be hanging high tomorrow.
Vs 4, When i saw the money change hands it made me see red. X 2
Yeah yeah, Now they're both dead.

Don't Come Back
02:58
|
|||
I heard a rumour. There's a rumour going around,
You've got some fancy man across town.
Across the railroad track.
I don't know, baby, if that's so. But if it is I guess you better go,
and don't come back
What you've been doing is wrecking my head.
This ain't the first time you've gone astray.
I was blind but now I'm seeing red.
You'd better go and stay away.
I don't need no rumours, i know it's true.
And because it is i've gotta say to you,
Don't come back.
What you've been doing etc etc...

Pluckin' Fool
04:25
|
|||
You can find me down on the corner pickin' and grinnin', happy as can be.
Out on the street, strumming the beat, watching the people trying to make ends meet, just like me.
This is how i like to spend 'my time'.
I don't care how i look, I'm feeling cool.
Out on the street, strumming the beat, beating the heat, just a pluckin' fool
You can find me under a shady tree pickin' and grinnin', happy as can be.
Under a tree, strumming the beat, watching the people trying to make ends meet, just like me.
This is how i like to spend 'my time'. I don't care how i look,
I'm feeling cool.
Under a tree, strumming the beat, beating the heat, just a pluckin' fool.
I don't need much more than to sit beneath this tree or down along the foreshore. Just my little guitar and me and five minutes peace.
Feeling free.
This is how i like to spend 'my time' etc etc ...

The Quiet Man
02:57
|
|||
I'm the quiet man. I never did belong.
Up at Serpentine Dam. That's where i liked to be alone.
I saw them come around. They knew that i was there.
I saw them throw her down, they didn't even care.
I went to where they had been to see what they had done
and i found her lying there beside the water and the gun.
Then the police came and took one look at me,
put me ion chains and put the blame on me.
They put the blame on me. Lord have mercy.
I never did no wrong, anyone could tell.
But someone's got to burn. They want to send me to hell.
I'm the quiet man, i never did belong.
Go on and send me to St Peter so i can finally be at home.
He's got a place for me. Lord have mercy.
